  • Oslo Through Time – A Walk with Character
    Price: NOK 350 per person

Included: Local guide, engaging storytelling about the city’s cultural history along the Akerselva River

    Meeting point: by Ibsen’s Grave | Time: 11:30 | Season: May 19 – August 30

OSLO IN TIME is an atmospheric walk through the city as it was shaped – by great personalities with even greater egos, workers with little to spare, artists perpetually broke, and a river that has always kept the wheels turning.

The tour begins at Vår Frelsers Cemetery, beneath old linden trees, where Henrik Ibsen, Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, Camilla Collett, and Edvard Munch rest side by side. Here, the tone is set with stories of rivalry, poverty, ambition, and artistic lives lived on perpetual credit.

The walk continues to Telthusbakken and Damstredet – cobblestones, colorful wooden houses, and an Oslo that feels closer to the 1800s than today. Workers, washerwomen, and bohemians lived side by side, and art could be traded for coffee and cigars. The pace slows, and the city breathes.

Along Akerselva – Oslo’s old backbone – stories of industry and hard labor are woven together with today’s cafés and creative communities.

The tour ends at Vulkan, Mathallen Oslo, and Blå, where the contrasts are clear: former workshops have become vibrant meeting places filled with food, music, and culture.

A walking tour rich in stories, contrasts, and dry humor. A comfortable pace, well-timed stops, and just long enough to truly get to know the city – and the people who shaped it.
