Alta Whale Safari
Join us for a 2.5-hour whale and wildlife safari through the beautiful Alta Fjord aboard Jektøy, a solid and comfortable Norwegian catamaran.
The fjord is home to whales, porpoises, sea eagles and a wide variety of Arctic seabirds. What we encounter depends on the season, weather, and wildlife activity that day. Nature does not follow a timetable, but there is always something to experience in the Alta Fjord.
Our onboard audio guide tells you about Alta’s history, coastal culture, and the landscape surrounding the fjord. When whales, birds, or other interesting sights are spotted, the captain will provide live information from the bridge.
You can enjoy the fresh Arctic air from the outdoor viewing areas or stay warm inside our heated lounges. Large panoramic windows make sure you can still follow what is happening outside. Blankets are also available if you need a little extra warmth.
During the darker months, there may also be a chance to see the Northern Lights. Both whales and Northern Lights are natural phenomena and cannot be guaranteed – but they certainly improve an already good day when they decide to appear.
A small kiosk on board sells snacks and hot and cold drinks during the cruise.
