SWING’IT DIXIEBAND
Swing’it is a story about a group of gentlemen who dig the happy days of the 1920s. Since its origins, the band has developed into one of the most successful traditional jazz bands in Norway and Europe. The band takes the audience on a journey 100 years back in time and across the Atlantic to 1920’s New Orleans. They tell stories about the origins of jazz and the roaring twenties; glitter, glamour and Great Gatsby’s parties; speakeasies and secret parties during the Prohibition era; the optimism and decadence of a bygone era.
Their music is the perfect blend of vintage and modern: inspired by the old, but presented with new life. They present the traditional jazz as it really was, namely party music, mix it with pop arrangements and a fantastic live show that results in a unique atmosphere that can bring a smile to every corner of the mouth and dancing feet. The band has the ability to entertain all ages and people, they entertain in everything from jazz clubs and secret speakeasies; cocktail clubs and upscale parties; festivals and student clubs; at Gatsby parties and Prohibition events; at conferences and company parties to children’s concerts and as street musicians. They have played more than 60 concerts at many of the country’s biggest festivals, such as Kongsberg Jazzfestival, Molde Jazzfestival, Sildajazz and Stavernfestivalen. They also made it all the way to the semi-finals of Norway’s Got Talent in 2018 by enchanting the judges and the audience with jazzy versions of old Disney classics.
They released their first single – Party Like it’s 1923 – a tale of young gentlemen and ladies who are guests at the Great Gatsby’s famous parties at the start of 2019. This was followed by their first music video and an electro-swing remix with Teminite. This was a huge success with over a million streams in the first year. At the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020, two new singles followed, Booze Cruise and Champagne which further culminated in the band’s debut EP in April 2020 entitled “1923”. Their second music video followed soon after, a story about an illegal party on board a boat, sailing along the Mississippi River, a story that came true when the band was in New Orleans at the beginning of 2020 and, among other things, played on the world-famous steamboat “Natchez” on Mississippi.
